Press the wings onto either side of Gunter, and smooth down the top edges. Hold up to the body to compare until it’s the shape you want. Carefully press the white clay onto the black oval and slightly smooth the edges, making sure not to get any black clay onto the white (A). Cut the egg in half and slightly press the pieces to create the feet. Make little toe indents using a toothpick. Carefully press the beak on top of the white belly, pinching to keep its nice shape. Press the black clay on either side of the beak, followed by the white on top.
Never bake polymer clay directly on the surface of a baking sheet that you use for food. • If you are concerned about releasing polymer fumes in your kitchen oven, place the piece inside an aluminum foil oven bag. Many polymer clay artists use a dedicated toaster oven just for curing their clay. Just give them tiny beady eyes, goofy expressions, and pastel or bright, neon colors and they will fit right in! Make one large ball, ¾″ (2cm), in pink for Princess Bubblegum, and then make smaller balls, until you have enough to go around your wrist—I ended up with 12 smaller beads total for this bracelet.
Stitch Jake’s ears and muzzle onto the body. Instructions for each technique are included in Crafty Basics, but if you have trouble mastering a particular stitch, there are also many homemade videos on YouTube. Fellow crafters are very generous about sharing their knowledge, so don’t be shy if you need extra help! Here’s how to modify the pattern for one character. When cutting out the pattern pieces, make sure to cut one back piece for the character in fleece, including Cake’s spot. Also cut out two tails from fleece.
